Like other major industrial cities in the US, Chicago had a major rise in violent crime starting in the late 1960s. Like most major American cities, Chicago has also experienced a decline in overall crime since the early 1990s. But today, Chicago has gotten worse than what is has ever been. Since 2010, the murders have been booming crazy in our city. Matter fact, in 2012 Chicago’s murder rate was higher than the murder rate in Afghanistan coming in at 200 people.
Honestly, I feel like the violence in Chicago should be stopped because I just recently lost one of my best friends that i’ve been knowing since I was in kindergarten. The violence in Chicago is pointless anyway. No one should be able to take anyone’s life away except for God. These days, people in Chicago don’t even kill for a reason, they kill to try and get a name and cool points from people who don’t even matter. I feel that if Obama had an home invasion in Chicago and take away all the guns then the crime rate in Chicago would decrease extremely.
